Shiny Toy Guns official release: Ricochet! to sattelites, confirm new singer, unofficial release dates.

UPDATE: Sisely’s own response is here.

So below is the latest myspace bulletin from Shiny Toy Guns (yeah, I know lately LECOMPLEX has been almost exclusive to Shiny Toy Guns… interesting, we’ll see where this takes us).

Anyhow essentially they have confirmed Sisley Treasure as their new singer and have marked the release of the new single.

Release Dates:

Season of Poison: November 4, 2008

Ricochet! single: September 2, 2008

lets think back … or we will and you can just listen and remember.

in march of 2004 Chad and I wrote some music .. .. we decided to put some
of the tunes up on this social networking site called “myspace”,
actually on a personal profile because at the time there were no music
profiles and Tom had not even started messing with it yet.

Back then you could write Tom and he was just hanging out at his house –
and he would write you back and come see your band play down the street.

and we weren’t sure what would happen.

At the time we had just began to settle in with who our band was to be
for a while, our new drummer and new singer had been with us just for a
few months.

and we weren’t sure what would happen.

let me tell you what happened.

the people behind you,
the people in the front of you …
to your left, and to your right : :

they embraced what we were trying to project.

_ _

they projected what we were trying to embrace.

and a new sound … a new sight … a new way of approach began.

an approach centered around destroying the space that separates artist
from listener.

an artist should be no further away from some one listening than a mother
to her child.

together we can destroy both.

TOGETHER .. we did some great things.

TOGETHER we made milestones that bands 200 times our size could not equal.

TOGETHER we traveled the world ..

we listened to you,
when you asked us to come see you in alaska.

we drove there.

we listened to you …
when your friend was really sick. as in, cancer sick.

we went to her bedside.

we played in the parking lot …
when the venue refused to let all ages in to a 21+ venue.

when an accident happened ..
we went there on purpose.

and we listened to you ..
when the baby was born.

and again,
when he left you.

Today is Friday, August 15th, 2008.

It is not March 14th, 2004.

TODAY you will feel just a tiny piece of a new fire that has consumed this

and you will notice.

The Big Reveal:: Shiny Toy Guns unconfirmed new singer and song

UPDATE: The new single and new websites are about to launch, more details here and the single is available to listen to now.

A Singer Is Revealed And Her Name Is…

Sisely Treasure.

Sisely Treasure

Sisely Treasure

So due to the unreliability of Wikipedia, this is most definitely unconfirmed and still a rumour, but I have heard some reinforcement to it.

Taken from Sisely Treasure’s Wikipedia page:

According to a post from a friend of the band on a Shiny Toy Guns forum, she will be the next singer for Shiny Toy Guns

I checked the reference, once again it’s the fan forum’s doing and since they seem to have pretty good connections… well, we’ll see. Anyhow, the Wikipedia post is here and her myspace is here.

Finally for Sisely Treasure, here’s a video dug up:

So what do you all think about this alleged new singer? From what I’ve heard of her so far I think she has a suitable voice even though I’m not too into her songs. We’ll she how she does – let’s just say she has much to live up to.

And The New Track Is Called…

Now onto more completely unconfirmed news that is more like a pure rumour. The new track is called “Lost to the Sky”.

So Carah left voluntarily: Nope… maybe?

EDIT: The reveal of the new singer and track name is here.

Okay so here’s the deal, all that stuff about Carah leaving the band for personal reasons was a bit of an assumption. It doesn’t sound at all like Carah ever had the choice to stay.

Apparently this is from Carah herself:

IT WAS NOT MY CHOICE TO LEAVE STG. Its all very painful for me but, I will always continue to do music and have already started a new group. Music is my life and I will always do it.
The rumors that I quit or that I left to marry are completely false and it would mean a lot to me if you would correct anyone saying that.

However, (and I certainly hope I’m not fueling the fire here… maybe it’s time i bite my tongue) this little tidbit also apparently came from Shiny Toy Guns’ myspace:

From: shiny toy guns
Date: Aug 11, 2008 5:24 PM

[Carah] doesn’t want to be in our band or she would still be with us, thats a bottom line. finding a new singer is quite difficult and a real test for us

So that’s that, and all very confusing. Here we have Carah’s story and soon we should have the rest of the band’s story. Due to the early jump in the story from Jeremy’s post, since we don’t have any details and especially since Carah’s and Jeremy’s words are a bit contradicting, I’d like to point out that it is still far too early to say she was kicked out of the band or not, or even to draw any conclusions.

I’d like to state firmly that at this point there is nothing to substantiate jumping to any conclusions as to whether or not Carah is no longer in the band as her decision, or others or why she is no longer in the band. Furthermore, as Shiny Toy Guns has the right to explain their situation, Carah also has the right to explain hers. Both deserve nothing but respect.

Since Carah is saying the rumors aren’t true instead of substantiating personal information, I guessed it would be okay to share this information.

Stay-tuned, impact is due.

Shiny Toy Guns:: prepare a release.

More information from Shiny Toy Guns on Season of Poison-

This bulletin posted Aug 9, 2008 2:14 PM from the band’s US and UK myspace gives a few more release details.

In summary:

  • their first song will be released online from Manhattan Monday night.
  • a date with Mars Volta, Cut Copy and Datarock in downtown Los Angeles.
  • Turn to Real Life is getting an update!
  • Satellite members (street team) will be the first to receive the new single (by e-mail)
  • the new band member will be revealed the following Monday
  • the new song could be called Impact (or Jeremy just likes saying the word impact, but usually he drops these kind of clues)

Finally, I pulled this from the Shiny Toy Guns fan board, the time of the release is tentatively 7:00 pm from New York.

Here’s the full post:

If you’ve read this far, there’s a reward for you. You know how I said that Finale/Reprise was the last thing Carah worked on with Shiny Toy Guns? Well Carah has already been featured in a track by Spookey Ruben (I have no idea how long ago this was made). I don’t quite think the song does Carah justice, but it’s nice to hear something from her outside of the band.

PS: I like the concept of these fan-art Season of Poison CD covers. Shiny Toy Guns: Digital and Analog, Flushing it Out: computer generated fonts and analog ink on paper with water damage. There is some nice minimalistic symmetry happning there.

Also, check out how Carah explained that she didn’t leave the band by choice here.

Season of Poison:: here we go

Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get around to starting this, so here it is.

What better way to start off than to share a little something about Shiny Toy Guns and their new album: Season of Poison.

It’s due out the last week of October. However, there will be something available to listen to and “have” August 11. That’s only six days.

Moving right along the album is set to be darker, and I’m told the first singles lined up will be a perfect blend of all things shiny and darker, edgier, metal-like guitar riffs.

Now onto the big news:

new song writer and new singer

Yes they have a new female singer.

Carah, stay with us.

New work by Benjy Russell for them has been up for a while on their site:

however, Benjy’s own site has a little more to offer.

They are also flying out to Tennessee to do a photoshoot with him. Songs include: “When Revelation Calls” (Carah has been seen playing the drums with Mikey live for this) “Blown Away” And a slow all piano (so far) ballad-type song.

Back to We Are Pilots for a moment… there is some reimagining happening with a song.. also a remix album is slated to come up soon as well.

Moving on to tour:

4 october los angeles will have some of it. live.

come see your new
band with their new album . and MARS VOLTA with theirs.

and CUT COPY and DATAROCK are amazing.

its the LA weekly detour
festival downtown.

where else )? i think something will happen soon in RENO and SPOKANE.

and DUBLIN and yes I mean Ireland.

…weeks away from new new music and a new tour.

Some dates are already up. As for the line up… I hear some major bands are in talks for touring… *cough* Muse.

The album is officialy done recording. From what I’ve heard it’s amazing.

More quotes and information:
“it’s as keyboard driven as it is organic but gone are the drum machines, gone are the super fluffy pop synths. Instead the record is taking more of a road of a band that merges Queens Of The Stone Age with old Skinny Puppy, dipped in Peter Schilling with a little Flash Gordon sprinkled on top. Ripping rock guitars and all toms on the drums instead of straight rock beats with 100% analog synths slicing through everything around it.”
“EVERYTHING is a duet at the top of all vocal range, fast moving and loaded with more percussion than the Blue Man Group.”
“This record is made to decapitate and remove legs at the knees; but melody still rules our world. Every song could be played on an old guitar
around a campfire.”
And direct from Jeremy Dawson….

when everything is blown away.

we wonder lots about it.

we make music about it.

we have finished our new album.

not sure how to say what to say to say it right ; but truly we have
finished our greatest work and effort.

7(seven) direct months of writing combined with everything the road gave
and took, and the upsidedowns we have torn apart in the meantime.

the record sums up years and years of interest and trial, love and dark
clouds, passion and power.

but now our album is complete.

things have changed.

its so personal and such an important part of who Chad and I are as
writers; and a new writer has emerged beside us as well.

the record is a reminder darkness comes soon to you. and to us. its just normal and you have to normally deal with such.

SEASON OF POISON deals with such. questions become answers.

11 august you can hear some of it smile.gif and have some of it.

oh by the way … before we fly to the quiet southern charm of the
mountains of Tennessee this morning to shoot pictures for you,

we have a new singer in shiny toy guns.

she is sleeping on an airplane
right now.

more soon, a lot more soon.

don’t hold back | we never will.

08shinys : J

Notice how he said “when everything is blown away”? Well, Blown Away is one of their unannounced songs. So what is Surface Chart? Jeremy certainly drops a lot of clues…

UPDATE: So it’s official Carah is leaving the band for personal reasons, here’s the information direct from Jeremy

carah … moved to sweden.

…and we are really happy for her.

Now that gives the band 2 choices :

disband and disappear forever, or simply find the right

person who wants to be in our band. Remember, Chad

and I wrote every note, every word, everything that is

shiny toy guns from day one.

I don’t think you or any of us wants shiny toy guns to

disappear. So, we have found the 4th piece of our band all

over again. You will meet her soon:)

And whatever or whenever Carah chooses

to do with her voice we support

100% and we would except you to do the same.

love: jeremy

EDIT: I decided to edit out the personal information Jeremy gave. Essentially Carah is no longer in Shiny Toy Guns because of personal reasons for currently unknown reasons (link goes to Carah’s saying she hasn’t left for personal reasons)  and has moved on to a new project. You can read what Carah had to say about this in response initially here.
