Unreleased Muse Track:: Who Knows Who (Muse vs The Streets)

Apparently Muse was fooling around in the studio with a blues riff and pushed out this track called Who Knows Who with Mike Skinner (The Streets) rapping on it.

It sounds decent for a joke song, I definitely wouldn’t want to see this on a Muse album (except as a B-side) but an official release would be pretty cool.

The song started floating around on the Muse message board. Since then the band has condoned the sharing, saying the following:

The MP3 floating around on the message boards at the moment is a track we recorded with Mike Skinner a few months ago. The track was the result of a late night jam session and something we did for a bit of a laugh featuring a blues riff we have been playing live recently upon which Skinner recorded some vocals. It is not intended to be a serious release so we are happy for it to be leaked around unofficially. Hope you enjoy, Cheers. Matt, Dom & Chris.

I’m really glad they decided to let the fans do with it what they will instead of trying to delete the mp3.

Shiny Toy Guns official release: Ricochet! to sattelites, confirm new singer, unofficial release dates.

So below is the latest myspace bulletin from Shiny Toy Guns (yeah, I know lately LECOMPLEX has been almost exclusive to Shiny Toy Guns… interesting, we’ll see where this takes us).

Anyhow essentially they have confirmed Sisley Treasure as their new singer and have marked the release of the new single.

in march of 2004 Chad and I wrote some music .. .. we decided to put some
of the tunes up on this social networking site called “myspace”,
actually on a personal profile because at the time there were no music
profiles and Tom had not even started messing with it yet.

Back then you could write Tom and he was just hanging out at his house –
and he would write you back and come see your band play down the street.

and we weren’t sure what would happen.

At the time we had just began to settle in with who our band was to be
for a while, our new drummer and new singer had been with us just for a
few months.

What I honestly think of this song is that it’s nice to have a throwback to Nothing Compares 2 U. The lyrics seemingly mirroring Le Disko at some points is cool and the concept of guns and ricochets supplementing the idea of a shiny toy gun is pretty sweet. However, the lyrics come off as insincere and at parts like Bullet For My Valentine could’ve written them in 10 seconds. I’m getting no sense of depth or meaning as of now. Just words. It seems like they’re trying to force out another Le Disko. As promised it is darker. I’m feeling a little bit of Junkie XL and Lauren Rocket in the beginning vocals. Now what I need to love this song is the rest of the album so I can see the connections and how the themes tie in to eachother. Right now, this stand alone song isn’t bad, but I wouldn’t say it’s amazing. It is nice to hear something new though. I see this the same way as hearing Le Disko for the first time: I didn’t like it at first because it seemed like nothing special, but I kept coming back and before I knew it I was googling them and what do you know, 2 concerts later I’m very much impressed with Le Disko. I really hope that the video for Ricochet! (if they do a video that is, since this is the first single) is just as edgy as Le Disko and You Are The One and a little less Rainy Monday. That being said I liked how I could see the connection between Rainy Monday and You Are The One (as well as the rest of We Are Pilots) later.

What does everyone think?

They sampled their version of Nothing Compares 2 U.

It very much reminds me of Junkie XL at the intro.

I like it personally, it’s a totally different feel from We Are Pilots which is interesting. I don’t love it yet, it’s not the Shiny Toy Guns I love, but I think if the rest of the album expands on these ideas I’m going to.

According to FMQB radio station, the new single (available for airplay September 1-2 I believe) is called Ricochet.

Aside from this I can also confirm that Sisely Treasure is the new Shiny Toy Guns singer albeit unofficially.

Finally, I’ve heard a little rumour that the remix album we’ve been waiting on since last year is to be released October, around the release of Season of Poison.

So due to the unreliability of Wikipedia, this is most definitely unconfirmed and still a rumour, but I have heard some reinforcement to it.

I checked the reference, once again it’s the fan forum’s doing and since they seem to have pretty good connections… well, we’ll see. Anyhow, the Wikipedia post is here and her myspace is here.

So what do you all think about this alleged new singer? From what I’ve heard of her so far I think she has a suitable voice even though I’m not too into her songs. We’ll she how she does – let’s just say she has much to live up to.

And The New Track Is Called…

Now onto more completely unconfirmed news that is more like a pure rumour. The new track is called “Lost to the Sky”.

Alas the impact has been delayed. No new STG track yet.

UPDATE: The new launch date is upon us!

There have apparently been some delays in mastering the track and it is not available for its 7:00 pm EST release date of today, August 11th. Will the new singer still be revealed next Monday? Who knows.

its tough and sometimes deadlines aren’t met. Our mastering session for some new music for today has been postponed … and as much as I want so dearly to post this song up here; we worked so hard on it and it wouldn’t be fair to the 4 of us to not put up the best, most powerful version.

Also, I can confirm that the vocals on the new album are the new girls only, and a reminder that Carah has started a new music project and that there will be a new version of Turn to Real Life soon.

Okay so here’s the deal, all that stuff about Carah leaving the band for personal reasons was a bit of an assumption. It doesn’t sound at all like Carah ever had the choice to stay.

Apparently this is from Carah herself:

IT WAS NOT MY CHOICE TO LEAVE STG. Its all very painful for me but, I will always continue to do music and have already started a new group. Music is my life and I will always do it.
The rumors that I quit or that I left to marry are completely false and it would mean a lot to me if you would correct anyone saying that.

However, (and I certainly hope I’m not fueling the fire here… maybe it’s time i bite my tongue) this little tidbit also apparently came from Shiny Toy Guns’ myspace:

So that’s that, and all very confusing. Here we have Carah’s story and soon we should have the rest of the band’s story. Due to the early jump in the story from Jeremy’s post, since we don’t have any details and especially since Carah’s and Jeremy’s words are a bit contradicting, I’d like to point out that it is still far too early to say she was kicked out of the band or not, or even to draw any conclusions.

I’d like to state firmly that at this point there is nothing to substantiate jumping to any conclusions as to whether or not Carah is no longer in the band as her decision, or others or why she is no longer in the band. Furthermore, as Shiny Toy Guns has the right to explain their situation, Carah also has the right to explain hers. Both deserve nothing but respect.

Since Carah is saying the rumors aren’t true instead of substantiating personal information, I guessed it would be okay to share this information.
